Day 42. Sunday at the cottage.

Well today was a day not spent with my seatosea family but one spent with my kids and grandkids.
We spent the last 24 hrs eating sleeping boating swimming seadooing Paddelboarding watersking more eating. It was so jammpacked with stuff I almost forgot to relax. How can such a busy time be so energizing. It's not like i sat around all weekend. Can time with people who love you so unconditionally be that rewarding. I'll tell you it was tough to leave them all tonight. WHat did they do that's so different. They cooked and cleaned up. Maybe they were on their best behaviour. Maybe they put some differences aside. They just did whatever it took to make us feel loved , missed and welcome all at the same time. Are they perfect. Not even close. Do they still have things that drive them crazy abut each other. Sure they do. Why did they go out of their way to do this. It's cause they love us. Pretty awesome.
Now if we were home for a few weeks or a month would things change? Sure it would.
Kind of makes me think of the church family. Do we treat each other as though we haven't see each other in a long time. Or do we treat them in a way that is maybe too familiar. Are we ready to make a change after a family leaves. Or maybe a bunch. Do we hang on to stuff way too long. Maybe we should be acting like we haven't seen each other in a long time. Maybe we should go out of our way to make people feel welcome. It would take effort. Probably take us out of our comfort zone. Would it be worth it.
Could you imagine if we served a God that treated us like we usually treat others. He didn't and doesn't give up on us. He loves us when we're at our best but he also loves us at our worst. He can't and won't stop loving us. All we have to do is accept his love. Just like we do with people that love us. That's easy. Now loving people who don't love us. That's not easy. That's work. But the example God gave us, Jesus, shows us that the reward for loving people far out ways the opposite reaction. I'm hoping you can all experience love in your life that makes you feel renewed and refreshed. Ask your friend in Jesus. He will help you if you ask him into your life.   Love you all. Len.
